Parkhurst clothing is another great Canadian fashion design success story. This label is one of several fashion lines created by Dorothea Knitting Mills. The Parkhurst line centres around fine quality knitwear and is well known for its sweaters and scarfs. A Canadian company, DFM was founded by Loius Borsook in 1926 and it is still run today by third generation family member, Steven Borsook.
The Parkhurst lines also include a very popular separate fashion label called Cotton Country
The DKM company strives to maintain production in Canada and resists the temptation to move all its production overseas to take advantage of cheap labour. Admirably, despite the extra cost, they have held production to Canadian factories by investing heavily in technology and machinery.
